About Smaart

What is Smaart?

Smaart is an acronym which stands for Sound Measurement Acoustical Analysis Real Time tool. it was introduced in 1996 by JBL's pro audio division, and designed to help live sound engineers optimize the linearity of sound reinforcement systems during the public performances. A distinct upgrade from earlier systems.

Smaart has three modes: transfer function, real-time analyzer (RTA) and impulse response. The first two modes use dual- and single-fast Fourier transform (FFT), and the impulse response mode uses either FFT or maximum length sequence (MLS) analysis.

What Smaart can do?

  • The Smaart operator interprets the accumulated data and programs the system DSP to optimize system performance.
  • Smaart utilizes the PCs power to perform Fast Fourier Transforms (FFTs).
  • Fourier transformation takes a complex function and transforms it into its basic components, simple sine waves.
  • In Spectrograph mode, Smaart displays a real-time spectrum analysis, showing the relative strength of audio frequencies for one audio signal.
  • Smaart can be used to find the delay time between two signals, in which case the computer needs two input channels and the software uses dual-FFT mode.
  • Smaart is an acronym which stands for Sound Measurement Acoustical Analysis Real Time tool.

RocketLauncher Instructions

We always recommend installing a RocketLauncher first to trial and understand the template more effectively. It must be installed as new, and not over an existing Joomla install.

Step 1 - Upload

  • Download the RocketLauncher
  • Unzip the file
  • Upload the created folder to your server

Note: You can upload all the files via FTP, or use cPanel or SSH to upload the zip and unzip directly onto the server. Enquire with your hosting provider.

Step 2 - Installation

  • Go to www.yoursite.com/*folder name*
  • Follow the Installation instructions
  • Ensure you click Install Sample Data during installation
  • Remove the installation folder in the Installation interface
