It all began taking shape in the mid-1960s. Detroit was Hitsville, USA, and the Motown Sound was the epicenter of American pop music culture. Radio personalities began hosting record hops, creating demand for sound systems and audio engineers to operate them. In response to this demand, a group of precocious teenagers with an affinity for electronics formed Sound Solutions and began designing and building sound systems. From the outset, we understood the importance of using state-of-the-art components in our systems. This became our most fundamental tenet, which has carried through to today. A typical mid-60s sound system included QRK 12C turntables, a Spotmaster BE5 mixing console, a Crown DC 300 amplifier, and Altec A7 “Voice of the Theater” speaker cabinets.
As the Motown era faded and the psychedelic era dawned, we took a brief respite from the music and entertainment industry to further our educations. Equipped with formal training in electrical engineering and our strong audio backgrounds, we returned to the professional audio industry in the mid-70s. As significant technological advancements were being made in professional audio, disco exploded internationally. One of Sound Solutions' defining moments came in 1979, when we designed and installed our first major nightclub sound and lighting system. Many more would follow.
Throughout the 80s, Sound Solutions installed hundreds of systems in a wide variety of venues.
In the early 90s we began installing A/V systems nationally for The Ground Round restaurant chain. Soon after, we began installing systems in Applebee’s, T.G.I. Fridays, and Fuddruckers locations.
As we moved into 2000, we continued expanding our horizons. We’ve had the pleasure of working on a multitude of unique and challenging projects.
With a keen focus on emerging technologies and new product development, Sound Solutions will continue to be the industry leader in providing no-compromise, state-of-the-art sound and video systems.
